Growing up Cleveland Sports Fans and spending 4+ years at Purdue University, we've decided to dedicate our sports lives to teams that never really win anything.RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.comBlogger65125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-22982533737137272562008-08-20T20:26:00.005-05:002008-08-20T20:51:52.682-05:00Holy Shit is that guy FAST!!!!<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKzJZFT1WzI/AAAAAAAAAQs/sIucZSD1geA/s1600-h/Usain+Bolt.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236781899484322610" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKzJZFT1WzI/AAAAAAAAAQs/sIucZSD1geA/s320/Usain+Bolt.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>So this Jamacian guy, Usain Bolt, is the fastest man on the planet, ever!! He won the 100 Meter in a laugher. He was celebrating 20 meters from the finish line. He broke the record, easily. He could have set a mark that would have been a record for the next 20 years if he wanted. Watching him run was simply amazing.</div><br /><div>I watched SportsCenter tonight and they were comparing 40 yard dash times. I'm not sure the 2 examples they used, but the fastest at the combine this season was around a 4.2. Anyhthing there and quicker is about as quick as the NFL gets. If Usain Bolt had run the 40, his time would have been around 3.6. Not a misprint, 3.6!!!!! Somebody teach this guy to catch a football!!!! </div><br /><div></div><div>The speed this guy has is just absurd. It's effortless. Just amazing that someody can run that fast! </div><br /><div>I've never been into the olympics like this. Maybe it's the old age that's made me appreciate them a little more, or maybe it's because I have much more time to watch it? But I have really enjoyed the olympics this year! </div><br /><div>Oh, and Bolt set a record in the 200 today too. They're showing the replay in a couple of minutes here, and I'm sure he's going to look effortless, but it's going to be great to watch him run. </div><br /><div></div><div>If there is a downside to this years' games, it has to be the judging. I'm not a judge. I don't claim to be. And I've watched diving/gymnastics/boxing exactly 1 time in the last 4 years, but this judging is completely ridiculous. I don't even want to get into it, but it's been terrible. It's shocking that the 2 American girls won the gymnastics all-around?? It's been real bad. And it needs to be looked at before the next games in London. </div><br /><div>And yesterdays/Monday's US-China baseball game was quite a game. 5 US batters were pegged by Chinese pitchers. 3 guys were ejected. The Chinese catcher was destroyed at the plate by one of the US baserunners. And in the bottom of the 9th, said catcher acted as though he had hit a 10 run homerun to win the game for the Chinese. When in reality, he made the score 9-1 in the final inning.... I didn't see the game, only heard about it, but I really hope that the next guy up got pegged. Imagine if that was a MLB game? Imagine if the game wasn't played in China??? Anyhow, something else I don't really want to get into...</div><br /><div></div><div>In conclusion, the olympics have been awesome!! I'm really going to be depressed when they're done. That flip that Nastia Lukin does on the balance beam and then lands on one leg is f'n amazing! </div><br /><div></div><div>The 200 final, that I already know the ending to, is on, so I have to get going!! Enjoy the rest of the olympics!!!</div><br /><div></div><div>Oh, and the Indians suck, and the Browns looked horrible the other night. That's all I'm going to say about that!</div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-65591706086100781652008-08-13T13:31:00.009-05:002008-08-13T14:41:58.636-05:00Olympic Fever! Catch It!!<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKMxLq5SveI/AAAAAAAAAQk/LooxIicPs0I/s1600-h/Canoeing.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234081268497563106" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKMxLq5SveI/AAAAAAAAAQk/LooxIicPs0I/s320/Canoeing.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><div><div>I just can't get enough of the Olympics. I watch all day and all night. And I love watching the obscure sports. Team handball, water polo, volleyball, canoeing, boxing, and even baseball without big leaguers is a good sport to watch. But the swimming, not just the swimming, but the Michael Phelps stuff, has really been something. </div><br /><div>He's won 5 gold medals so far this olympics. That's just amazing. He's won in dominating fashion and he's won by split seconds. He's won on relay teams. He's won everything. And not only has he won 5 golds, he's set 5 new world records along the way. Unreal. The relay when they beat the French relay team was one of the most amazing comebacks I've ever seen??? Especially for it to be over the French, what a great victory. </div><br /><div>I even watched those little gymnasts last night. I felt real bad for the girl that fell off the balance beam. But the things that they do on that thing are amazing. Flips and twists and shit?? What the hell?? It's amazing!! They won the silver, I wouldn't be too upset about that. But the announcer guy was totally ripping this 20 year old girl to shreds. He certainly wasn't pulling any punches. </div><br /><div>But, she choked, and from hearing the stories about what these kids go through, I guess they have ever right to be that upset that she choked.</div><br /><div>And this brings me to the tragedy that is the olympics. My girlfriend and I were watching synchronized diving the other day and they interviewed one of the American girls. I believe it was Kelci Bryant who they were interviewing. She stated that she has no friends, she left her family 2 years ago to only train, the only people she talks to are her teammates. She's 18-19 years old and has given up here final high school years to compete. And before the end of the interview she made the comment, "...I have the rest of my life to have fun and do things for myself, but now, this is something I have to do..." Ummmm????? What????? Has anybody told her that her best years are her high school/college years? That she has just decided to give up? </div><div><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKMxGqqvwSI/AAAAAAAAAQc/ZvCgyhjFwTw/s1600-h/Chinese+Gymnasts.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234081182537204002" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKMxGqqvwSI/AAAAAAAAAQc/ZvCgyhjFwTw/s320/Chinese+Gymnasts.jpg" border="0" /></a></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>And the worst was the Chinese gymnasts. There are all sorts of rumors following these girls around about their ages. The minimum age of all olympic participants is 16. And I can guarantee you that these girls were not 16. They looked about 13, tops. And they looked like very sick 13 year olds. They talked about these girls and how they are taken from their parents at 3 years old to do gymnastics, only gymnastics, for their country. They get to see their families once a year. What happens to these girls once they reach 17??? They obviously don't have any job skills, and I find it hard to believe that they have even had an education. So what happens to them afterwards? Scary.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>And my last comment about the gymnastics last night, another comment was made that the Romanian gymnasts are just not what they once were. And what could have possibly happened to them, they were once so proud of their gymnasts. Well, apparently the announcer guy, that was ripping the poor american girl for falling and making a comment that she needs to get her head screwed on straight, spoke to the coach and this is what he said. "...we have to treat these girls differently now. They're westernized, they have friends, and they don't want to train as hard as they should..." Soooooo, wait a second here. These girls are being punished for wanting to have friends and lives outside of the gymnastics world?? God forbid them!!!! We should burn these girls at the stake for having a social life!! They should be winning golds for Romania, not texting their friends! </div><br /><div>I<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKMxABa83lI/AAAAAAAAAQU/BeSf1N75iaU/s1600-h/chicago.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5234081068385885778" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SKMxABa83lI/AAAAAAAAAQU/BeSf1N75iaU/s320/chicago.jpg" border="0" /></a> always knew that these girls were worked to death, but I guess I didn't actually hear it firsthand like I heard it last night. I feel very bad for these kids. They deserve better than this... </div><br /><div>Boxing is a joke. The scoring system they use is archaic. I watched some kid from Cincy fight the other day, somehow he lost. He thought he was winning, but he was losing, he slipped and fell, and somehow he was credited with a point. I do not know what the hell was going on.</div><br /><div>But, the rest of the olympics have been great!!! Can't wait to see if Phelps adds to his Gold Medal count. What he's been doing has really been something to watch. </div><br /><div>Olympics in Chicago 2016!!!</div></div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-62956020332671987482008-08-08T09:49:00.010-05:002008-08-08T10:12:10.846-05:00The 2008 Season Has Begun!!<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJxgg5KrkVI/AAAAAAAAAQE/kttoGLq8_Rg/s1600-h/174.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232162985315373394" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJxgg5KrkVI/AAAAAAAAAQE/kttoGLq8_Rg/s320/174.JPG" border="0" /></a>The Browns opened up last night at a very rainy, thundery, Cleveland Browns Stadium. They lost 24-20, but that's not the important part. The important part is that they looked good. From what I have read at least, they looked good!<br /><br /><div>DA was 4-5 for 20 yards, 1 TD. A timing throw to Braylon who made a spectacular 1-handed catch was the TD. It seems like the 2 of them are just on the same page. And you can't teach that.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>The first team D, and the O, for that matter, played well in their 1 series before the weather decided to <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJxg2cLAq2I/AAAAAAAAAQM/tCDVxOx1oUM/s1600-h/Braylon+and+DA+Celebrating.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5232163355489250146" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJxg2cLAq2I/AAAAAAAAAQM/tCDVxOx1oUM/s320/Braylon+and+DA+Celebrating.jpg" border="0" /></a>halt things. The D held the Jets scoreless, and the O marched down for a TD. I'm not getting real excited, this is the the quarterbackless Jets they held. But at the same time, they're not playing the Little Sisters of the Blind either. So I'm thinking this is good!</div><div><br />Brady played well. He threw one pick. And I've read that it should have been caught, and I've read that it was a bad throw that Syndric Steptoe was able to get a hand on. The game is on the NFL network this weekend, and I have the TiVo already set up to record. But I will make my own decision when I see it.. </div><br /><div>Overall, it looks like things were positive. No QB sacks. So the O-Line is playing well. And the mcuh improved D-Line played well, without Cory Williams getting much PT coming off the injury. </div><br /><div>I like it!! I like it!!! Where's the Super Bowl this season???</div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-36355153746758388832008-08-06T16:10:00.006-05:002008-08-06T17:13:29.074-05:00I Think I Deserve A Raise<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJog-lbuQPI/AAAAAAAAAP8/6l-XvDNVQB8/s1600-h/Josh+Cribbs.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231530176716620018" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJog-lbuQPI/AAAAAAAAAP8/6l-XvDNVQB8/s320/Josh+Cribbs.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Josh Cribbs wants a raise. He had one good year, and now he wants a raise. He went from an undrafted free agent, to return man extraordinaire, to whiny, overpaid, athlete in the time span of 3 years. </div><div><br /></div><div>So Cribbs was given a $5K signing bonus when he made the roster for the 2005 edition of the Browns. He was just happy to be playing. He performed, and came back for the 2006 squad. Again, played well, ran one kick for a TD. Started developing into a solid return guy. And was rewarded by signing a 6 year, $6 mil contract with the Browns. I'd call that loyalty?? Who wouldn't?? </div><div><br />Then Cribbs has a huge 2007. Gets selected for the Pro Bowl. Electrifies fans. Brought back 2 kicks and 1 punt for TDs. Scared the hell out of opposing special teams coaches. And is now asking for a new, bigger contract. But he also claims that he's not goign to be a distraction and hold out for a new contract. </div><div><br /></div><div>I just don't understand?? Call me naive or whatever, but I just don't understand why these athletes are the way they are. Yes, they have to strike when the iron is hot, but is a mil a year to return kicks not enough??? </div><div><br /></div><div>I don't know who is to blame. I'm sure the athletes are a part of it. TO, Chad Johnson... But in many cases, I'm sure it's the agents. Trying to make their payday. Cribbs gets a new agent and all of a sudden he wants a new contract? From what I've read about Cribbs, he seems like a pretty humble guy. He should be, he went undrafted and obviously worked his ass off to make the Browns and have the 2 seasons he had that led to the new contract. </div><br /><div>But in the end, pick a side. If you want a new contract, sit out until you get it. If you don't, get out and play and shut your mouth. </div><div><br /></div><div>But why have 1 good season and then become a whiny little overpaid athlete. Go out, play the game, and here's an idea... Win a fucking Super Bowl?? Give your team that chance to sign other players around you. One person does not win a Super Bowl.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Moving on to other Cleveland news, and greedy athletes. LeBron James has stated that he'd be interested in going over to Europe, Greece to be exact, to play for some team over there. For $50 Million a year. That's not a typo. $50 Million. </div><div><br /></div><div>He's 23 years old right now. So when his contract is up in 2010, he's going to be 25. Say he plays over in Europe for 3 years, he's going to come back and be 28 and should be in the prime of his career and could concievably play another 10 years in the NBA. Play in Europe for 3 years at $50 million??? Who in their right mind would not do this???? Seriously?? $150 million for 3 years???? Hell yes I'd go over there for a couple of years. </div><div><br /></div><div>I am a very loyal person. If I were in LeBron's shoes, there is no way I would leave Cleveland for New York, New Jersey, LA, Philly.... But offer up $150 Mil for 3 years? Should I find a house or is the club going to do that for me?</div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-14461291608369575572008-08-05T11:54:00.009-05:002008-11-13T11:23:37.109-06:00News and Notes on this humid Tuesday afternoon<div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJiKEZaRDKI/AAAAAAAAAPc/SzwaNl1gaas/s1600-h/172.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231082775335996578" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJiKEZaRDKI/AAAAAAAAAPc/SzwaNl1gaas/s320/172.JPG" border="0" /></a>Here's just a few of the things that have been going through my head over the last couple of days.<br /><div>This internet social networking is simply amazing. People that I haven't heard from in years have reached out to my facebook page. Unreal. It's neat to see what everybody is up to, where they are at, kids, marriage... People that I'm pretty sure I would not otherwise speak to I have been in touch with. What a great thing this whole internet has done for us!<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJiLgsoOSxI/AAAAAAAAAPs/sBc_XbVZjgI/s1600-h/DA+and+BQ.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231084361042774802" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJiLgsoOSxI/AAAAAAAAAPs/sBc_XbVZjgI/s320/DA+and+BQ.jpg" border="0" /></a>I love reading the message boards after all of the articles I read on the Plain Dealer online. Fucking hysterical! My favorite was a reader that is making his case for Brady Quinn being the starter because of a ball he threw in some preseason game last year, he can't remember which one, and he thinks Jurevicious caught it, but he's also not sure. He's claiming that it's the best throw he's seen in years. I'm not even going to comment about this further. I'll never understand why having 2 capable QBs is such a huge problem???</div><br /><div>My girlfriend makes the most amazing Buffalo Dip.</div><br /><div>CC is dealing in Milwaukee. Such a shame the Tribe could not keep him around.</div><br /><div>I was in Cleveland this weekend and went for a boat ride on the Goodtime III. Very nice. it was a beautiful day and the trip up the Cuyahoga was very relaxing! I was simply amazed that the East bank of the flats is gone. Not just abandoned, but gone!!! The buildings were gone! Everything!! What a great place that was about 7 years ago.. What the hell happened.</div><br /><div>From what I've been reading, Anderson to Braylon is looking real good in camp!! I just got chills!!!<br /></div><div></div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJiLWagwgOI/AAAAAAAAAPk/oLKdTSKQxB4/s1600-h/105815.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231084184380932322" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SJiLWagwgOI/AAAAAAAAAPk/oLKdTSKQxB4/s320/105815.jpg" border="0" /></a> I'm tired of the hole that keeps leaking in the middle of my living room.<br /><br /><div>It's very painful watching somebody you love in a miserable relationship with an absolutely miserable person. </div><br /><div>And lastly, one of the most amazing things happened in Cleveland Hopkins Airport on Sunday afternoon. My flight back to Chicago was delayed 3 hours. I was with my 6, soon to be 7, year old. I thought I was going to have a hard time occupying her for the delay, but she made friends with some little girls in the airport and had a ball. But that's not the story, the story is that one of the little girls was from somewhere in the Middle East, I don't know where, and she didn't speak English, she spoke Arabic. This didn't matter to the 4-7 year olds and the fun they had. It was absolutely amazing to watch the 3 of them play together even though they couldn't communicate with the little Mid Eastern Girl. The 3 of them had so much fun. It's really something the lessons little kids can teach.</div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-46813285245722007812008-07-25T19:45:00.003-05:002008-11-13T11:23:37.387-06:00Super Bowl Aspirations?<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SIqBuBBmh2I/AAAAAAAAAPU/2DVneh9uZsM/s1600-h/DA+to+Braylon.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227132945066002274" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SIqBuBBmh2I/AAAAAAAAAPU/2DVneh9uZsM/s320/DA+to+Braylon.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Training camp in Berea opened on Wednesday. And this is the season. This is the season for the Browns. This was supposed to be the season for the Indians. But we're not going to talk about that. And we're going to focus on the positive. And the positive is playing in Cleveland Browns stadium this fall!</div><div></div><br /><div>The defense is going to be much improved. With the additions of Shawn Rogers and Cory Williams on the D-Line, which was the weakest part of the '07 Browns, may be the strength of the '08 version. The reviews on Rogers have been real good so far. He's very quickly becoming a leader on the D.</div><br /><div></div><div>And so far all I've read are great things about Kellen Winslow. He wants a new contract, but he vows to not be a distraction... Again, positive thoughts, so we're not going there. But it really sounds like he's dedicated to being the best player out on the field. </div><br /><div></div><div>Not to change the subject abruptly, but I'm watching Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the Food Network. I do believe this guy has the best job in the world. He goes all over the place eating good food. Not the gourmet crap that most food reviewers go to. He's at a BBQ place in Memphis right now, and I'm seriously considering hopping into the car and heading down there... </div><br /><div></div><div>Anyhow, all of the things I've read so far about the first 3 days of training camp are good. And of course the debate is who is goign to play QB for this team. I hate this debate, and I'll never understand why having 2 capable QBs is a bad thing?? I don't know what the stat is, but very few QBs made it through last season unscathed. Also, do we forget the DA has only been a starter for one year? He started 3 games in the lost '06 season after Charlie Frye was nearly decapitated because he enjoyed holding onto the ball and making poor, slow, decisions? DA didn't even start the first game last season? And for the majority of last season, he play fantastic football. So well that both Braylon and Winslow made the pro bowl. Along with rookie left tackle Joe Thomas. You don't think that had anything to do with the way Anderson played?? Yes, he played horribly against Cincinnati. That was painful to watch, very. But if you are going to crucify the guy for 1 or 2 bad games, in his first season as a starter, you're crazy. </div><br /><div></div><div>It's frustrating to listen to. The blogs that I read from the Plain Dealer talked about the first couple days of Training Camp, talked about how DA threw 3 interceptions on Thursday. And there were already talking about how horrible he is and how he should be the backup, and how Brady is such the better QB, and how... Just annoying. Braylon even came out and said that it was a huge distraction last season not knowing who the QB is going to be. </div><br /><div>DA is the guy, he's going to stay the guy. So stop all of the Brady Quinn talk for a while. I'm already tired of it. Again, what's the problem with having 2 quality QBs?? Exactly.<br /></div><div>Looking forward to signing up for the NFL Sunday ticket! Can't wait for the season to get going! Can't wait to see the excitement in Cleveland! </div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-23921260821645196812008-07-17T11:16:00.006-05:002008-11-13T11:23:37.749-06:00Let's Get Back to Baseball! Now that the All-Star break is over, it's going to be nice to get back to some baseball. This promises to be a fantastic 2nd half of the season. Not really for the Indians, but there are some real good races that are going to take place this summer and fall.<br /><br />The best is the race in the AL East. With the Red Sox, again, leading the way after the break, it's really going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Will the Rays be able to get out of the funk they found themselves in going into the break?? Are they young enough to just go out and play baseball forgetting that they're taking on the Yanks and the Sox. Or are they going to be too young and falter in the 2nd half.<br /><br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH933-vL6JI/AAAAAAAAAPE/yzD3WqTf6D0/s1600-h/CC+Brewers.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224025896390486162" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH933-vL6JI/AAAAAAAAAPE/yzD3WqTf6D0/s320/CC+Brewers.jpg" border="0" /></a>The NL Central leading Cubs who are up 4.5 on the Cards and 5 on the Brewers. Both the Cubs and the Brewers greatly improved their pitching staffs in the acquisition of Harden and Sabathia. Both of which are starting to pay dividends. This is going to be a great run. 3 teams, half a season. Lots of excitement on the Northside.<br /><br />The AL Central with the Sox up a game and a half on the Twins. Not even close to what was predicted at the beginning of the season. But the real wild card is going to be what Detriot can do the rest of the season. They have really been surging in the last month or so and may come back to surprise the Sox and Twins. There's too many good players in Detriot to just falter.<br /><br />The NL West, it's going to be a race. But everybody has a sub .500 record. I don't even want to comment. The Dodgers should be much better than they are. Maybe because they have Juan Pierre playing outfield. That guy has a worse arm then most kids in little league.<br /><br />And another fantastic race is goign to be the NL east. Will the Phillies be able to come through and hold the half game lead over the surging Mets? Hopefully Ryan Howard learns to not strike out so much, my fantasy team would be very happy about this, but the rest of the lineup, outside of Howard, Utley, and Burrell, needs to start producing. The pitching has been solid, but they need to score some consistent runs to make the post season.<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH94D0HXThI/AAAAAAAAAPM/yGfmCMw_opQ/s1600-h/Rich+Harden.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5224026099697536530" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH94D0HXThI/AAAAAAAAAPM/yGfmCMw_opQ/s320/Rich+Harden.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />So, my predictions:<br /><br />AL East - Sox. The Rays will falter. Sadly.<br />AL Central - Twins. The Sox just don't have enough to hold off the rest of the AL Central<br />AL West - Angels. Boring<br />NL East - Phillies. Too much offense, Howard is going to blow up in the 2nd half.<br />NL Central - Cubs. They're going to hold off the Brewers. The Cards will fall off, Cubs and Brewers will go down to the wire.<br />NL West - Dodgers, I guess.<br />AL Wildcard - Detroit<br />NL Wildcard - Brewers<br /><br />My cat, Manny, just caught a fly. It was pretty cool watching him stalk this thing for the last hour or so. He's pretty excited about his catch!<br /><br />Have a great Thursday!RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-48561453966259059452008-07-16T14:10:00.013-05:002008-11-13T11:23:38.097-06:00A Busy Week-in-Review<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH5Oc2QmMII/AAAAAAAAAOk/aL5r0MXISeo/s1600-h/training+camp.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223698875304784002" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH5Oc2QmMII/AAAAAAAAAOk/aL5r0MXISeo/s320/training+camp.jpg" border="0" /></a>Big week in sports. Between Brett Favre being a little bitch and not just retiring. Josh Hamilton putting on a display in the homerun contest Monday night. The Rays demise in the AL East. Life after CC. And training camp opens in a week!<br /><br />Where to start where to start???<br /><br />I guess we'll get the bad out of the way. Apparently Brett Favre is waging a media war against the Packers. He's now claiming that he was forced to retire. Or something, I can't stand to listen to him anymore. Just go away. Why wait until now to try and wage this battle? Why not 4 months ago. Maybe at that point they would have been more open to the idea of him coming back. You don't think the coaching staff and the management teams have been feverishly working on a game<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH5O63OE5KI/AAAAAAAAAOs/UE2wuIi-CtY/s1600-h/Favre.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223699390958724258" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH5O63OE5KI/AAAAAAAAAOs/UE2wuIi-CtY/s320/Favre.bmp" border="0" /></a> plan with Aaron Rogers?<br /><br />Which brings me to my next point. Why does he have to be given the starting role? Why shouldn't he fight for the starting job. If he's the better man, then he's starts. Isn't this usually how things work? I think it's ridiculous the way he's acting! Don't get me wrong, I think Farve is a great QB. I love his intensity, the fun he has on the field, and just the way he plays the game. But this is just an old, tired act.<br /><br />And the real kicker. He went on Greta's On the Record to whine about all this. How many different places could he have gone to vent? When I worked nights I watched Greta just about every night. And if you've never watched the show, you can just watch one and you've seen them all. She always has the same guests and asks the same questions. I didn't watch the interview, but I would not be the least bit surprised if she asked him if he knew where Natalee Holloway was.<br /><br />Life without CC is much better than originally thought. They're somehow hitting and they just swept the Rays in Cleveland. This really shouldn't be too surprising. They're lineup is exactly the same, they just have Sowers or some other lackey pitching every 5th day. And the offense started producing. So, they swept the Rays. Stranger things have happened.<br /><br />Which brings me to the fact that the Rays have collapsed. They were 7 games up in the loss column about 2 weeks ago. Now they're down a game. The All-Star break could not have come at a better time. They need this break to get back on track and start again dominating the AL East like they did for most of the first half of the season. They've got a great young team. And there's nothing more I would love to see than both the Yankees and Sox out of the postseason. I'm not holding my breath that this is going to happen, but miracles do happen.<br /><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223701142474919842" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SH5Qg0IFD6I/AAAAAAAAAO8/G1v_uXcT7O8/s320/hamilton+2.bmp" border="0" />Monday night at the "House that Ruth Built" was simply amazing. Did you know that they were tearing it down at the end of this season? Yeah, me either. Anyhow, Josh Hamilton put on an amazing display. It looked like he was hitting balls off a tee the way he was launching them out of Yankee Stadium. It looked effortless. He made it look like anybody could hit a baseball 400 feet. </p><p>It's a great story about him also. Got rid of the drugs, got his life back on track, and is now an all-star putting on a display nobody is going to forget about anybody anytime soon. It was amazing. I enjoyed watching the competition and all of the fun that the other major leaguers were having sitting and watching.<br /></p>I'm not going to get into A-Rod not entering the competition.<br /><br />And lastly, the Browns open training camp next Wednesday. Where did the summer go??? But I, along with most of the rest of the country, have very high hopes for the Browns this season. Let's hope they don't collapse and pull what the Indians did this summer. From what I hear, Brady is playing some good football and DA is playing better. The O-line is back together. They got some help on the D-line. The linebackers have matured, Jamal Lewis has revitalized his career. And the recieving corps is going to be 2nd to none! And with my purchase of the Sunday ticket this season, I can't wait for football to start!!RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-64323047258325214432008-07-08T16:43:00.004-05:002008-11-13T11:23:38.418-06:00Bye Bye, CC...<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SHPiV_40INI/AAAAAAAAAOc/ZDWnwcap5j0/s1600-h/CC+2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5220765260607398098" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SHPiV_40INI/AAAAAAAAAOc/ZDWnwcap5j0/s320/CC+2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Well, the Indians and their 2nd worst record in the AL went to drastic measures this weekend. They got rid of last years' Cy Young winner, CC Sabathia. This is a sad, sad day. It was very difficult to see him in a Brewers uni when he was being interviewed on Monday. I can imagine how it would feel to be playing for one team, for as long as he played with the Indians, and then have to walk out on the field for the Brewers. </div><br /><div>And the Indians got some prospects in return. And from what I hear, these prospects are real good. I sure hope so, becuause CC was, and is, that good. </div><br /><div>It's always tough to see a player you like to watch on your favorite team get traded. But it's a necessary evil. This trade had to happen. It was a matter of time, and the Indians management made the correct decision. And anybody who thinks otherwise is out of their mind.</div><br /><div>This season is over, it was over about 2 weeks ago. And this is sad. The hopes for this team were real high, after the season they had last year, everybody coming back and healthy, a Cy Young winner, the best 1-3-4 hitters in the game... This should have been a huge season, but it couldn't be any worse. </div><br /><div>They've dealt with injuries and guys just not performing. The list is pretty unreal. Cabrera was a complete waste at the plate, Garko can't hit, Hafner was hurt, Martinez lost all of his power, Blake can't make contact... Look at this lineup and you barely recognize anybody!! </div><br /><div>So, this season was lost, CC was gone at the end of the season. They needed to get something out of a trade for him. And they did exactly that. They got some real good prospects, their future is bright. </div><div> </div><div>But look at the pitching the Indians have right now. The cupboard is hardly bare. Starting out with the 11-1 Cliff Lee, Fausto Carmona, Jeremy Sowers, and Aaron Laffey. They've got some very solid youth. And if some of these prospects they have traded for, and Hafner/Garko/Martinez remember how to hit again??? They aren't that far away from being very good again. </div><br /><div>But it's very depressing to see a favorite player get traded, even if it is the right move.</div><div> </div><div>He's still on my fantasy team, and I'm pretty happy he's going to be getting 2 starts this week... </div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-10533465786385643692008-06-20T23:13:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:38.786-06:00It's been a long time...<div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SFyF4X6nCPI/AAAAAAAAAOM/b7MP_3ym1UI/s1600-h/Mackey.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214189672127203570" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SFyF4X6nCPI/AAAAAAAAAOM/b7MP_3ym1UI/s320/Mackey.jpg" border="0" /></a> <div>There are a couple of reasons I haven't written lately. 1. There's nothing to write about. and 2. I have been real busy. Neither is a good reason, I should be able to find some time a couple of times a week to write some magic.</div><br /><div>Anyhow. The Celtics won the NBA title this year. First, I really don't care. I'm just happy that I'm not going to have to deal with Stephen A. Smith on SportsCenter yelling at me. So that's good. Second, if I remember correctly, the Celtics sucked last year and Danny Ainge traded a couple of scrubs for Kevin Garnett and look what happened. Maybe Danny Ferry should take some lessons.<br /></div><div>As an aside, I was at Tower City at the CD place when I was in High School checking out some CD's and looked up to my left and there was that tall ass Danny Ferry standing next to me. That was pretty cool. He could have been such a great pro. I think he's done a great job with the Cavs so far. Give him a couple more years and I think he's going to bring a championship to Cleveland. Or at least another finals appearance. Injuries decimated the Cavs this year and I don't think people played up to their billing.... </div><br /><div>Whoa??? Did that just happen??? I blacked out for a minute..</div><br /><div>Moving on. Joe Tiller is getting rid of all the fat on the Boilermaker football team. I can't find the email, but he booted another WR off the team a couple of weeks ago, maybe a month or so. He was caught stealing rubbers from a local supermarket. Couple of things. He could have been stealing much worse. It's still a little embarrassing buying those things. And to add insult to injury, the judge he had to stand before was Les Meade. I had this guy as a Business Law professor at Purdue. He was probably the best professor I had at Purdue. He enjoyed what he did there, it showed. He enjoyed teaching. He was very memorable! I probably remember 3 professors at Purdue, and he's the only one that I remember for the right reasons. Great class! I still tell people that play the lotto that they're just paying "taxes for idiots."</div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SFyGEF6pcwI/AAAAAAAAAOU/EUgru8C53E4/s1600-h/Gene.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5214189873453953794" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SFyGEF6pcwI/AAAAAAAAAOU/EUgru8C53E4/s320/Gene.bmp" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Purdue football has to get their shit on straight this year. It's Tiller's last year, he's turned the program around, and then turned the program around again. I know they're probably never going to be a Michigan or Ohio State or Penn State, but they need to be in the top half of the Big 10 each year. And they've been struggling to be that for the last couple of years. Let's hope his booting off the a-holes will shape the rest of the guys up, just like Painter did.</div><br /><div>I'm not even going to talk about the last couple of Tila Tequila's and Real World's. I've never seen anything like either of them. I can't even put into words what's happened to MTV. </div><br /><div>And that's about it. Hopefully it won't be a week and a half to the next entry... </div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-57237548952061752002008-06-05T11:53:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:39.031-06:00The Real World?????<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SEgfJfax9QI/AAAAAAAAAOE/6U5urIVLvXo/s1600-h/MTV+Logo.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5208447216967087362" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SEgfJfax9QI/AAAAAAAAAOE/6U5urIVLvXo/s320/MTV+Logo.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I've been a big Real World Fan for years. There was a point when it was a very interesting social experiment in which they would put strangers of differing backgrounds, races, religions, sexual orientations... and see how they interact with each other. And it was very interesting. Good personalities, interesting interactions, and it generally seemed they all ended up better, more well-rounded people for the experience. </div><br /><div>Not anymore.</div><br /><div>Each episode of this Real World - Hollywood is more amazing than the other. This is the most vain, egotistical, ridiculous, horrible bunch of people MTV could have found. </div><br /><div>One of them, Joey, ended up in rehab after being in the house for about a week. He's now back in the house and with the exception of Sarah, nobody is the least bit sensitive to his situation. Not even close. He was home for about 30 minutes, everybody was sooo happy, they're all going to help him through this tough stretch in his life. They're all going to do everything they can to be supportive and help poor Joey through his addiction. They're all going to help, maybe starting tomorrow, because we all have to go out, get completely fucked up, come back to the house at 4:30 AM with about 4 new people they met that night, wake Joey up, mere hours after he got back from Rehab. The poor guy is a mess. He needs some decent people around him. This group is probably the worst group he could possibly be with.</div><br /><div>Will is just pathetic. He falls in love with every girl he meets. He's had a "kindergarten crush" on all of the girls in the house, 3 other ones that have come back to the house, Janelle from one of the other horrible Real Worlds', and probably the woman that is their boss at IO. </div><br /><div>Sarah is the only one with a conscience. And to be honest, I don't know why she's there? She actually cares about people, about others, about the addiction that Joey is going through. She appears to be the only one that doesn't have an agenda.</div><br /><div>The stripper is just a horrible person. She claimed that she cared about Joey's addiction. But she very obviously doesn't give a shit about anybody but herself and her "singing career". </div><br /><div>Kim is just a dumb blonde. Doesn't have a clue. </div><br /><div>And the worst of the worst is this Greg guy. Talk about not giving a shit about anybody but yourself! I don't know how anybody would ever speak to this guy. We're finally put out of our agony and he got kicked out last night because he didn't understand that he had a job that he had to show up for. "...I want to be a high fashion model..." is the only thing he said. Sooo fucking pathetic. The best part of the show was when he got kicked off, not one of the roommates stood up for him. None of them said a word. In fact, I believe there was a little smile that came across Dave's face. </div><br /><div>He's been playing all these pranks too. He put rocks in Will's bed. He put money on his own bed, he cleaned the floor with Kim and Sarah's toothbrushes, he stole Sarah's undies... Call me crazy, but aren't pranks supposed to be funny??? Because none of the "pranks" were the least bit funny. He's just a fucking moron! </div><br /><div>And he was upset that nobody stood up for him. What a jackass. </div><br /><div>How any of these people get through life is beyond me???? </div><br /><div>I'm not even going to put up pictures of these people. I'm just annoyed. How far has this show fallen from where it once was. </div><br /><div>Not to mention all of the other horrible programming MTV is showing right now. I can barely remember the days of when they actually played Music Videos.</div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-2585950645757808332008-06-01T21:17:00.004-05:002008-11-13T11:23:39.291-06:00Is This Really What All The Fuss Is About???<div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SENgrrR2SRI/AAAAAAAAAN0/ZO6NH1kCWfw/s1600-h/Kimbo.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207111897638652178" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SENgrrR2SRI/AAAAAAAAAN0/ZO6NH1kCWfw/s320/Kimbo.jpg" border="0" /></a>So I caught a little of the MMA thing on CBS last night. I had never really watched this except for when I was in Cancun on spring break when I was in college and something similar was playing on the TV in the bar I was at. Anyhow, I don't think I'll be tuning in anytime soon.<br /><br /><div></div><div>I flipped it on pretty late and got to see the final 2 fights of the night. When I turned it on, I was hoping that I hadn't missed this Kimbo Slice guy I kept hearing about on Sportstalk Radio and PTI. All I heard was about how much a beast this guy was and he's apparently the greatest fighter in MMA history. He was dominant. He was unbeatable. He's never lost. He knocks guys out in mere seconds. He IS what MMA is all about. </div><br /><div>Well, when he was announced they commentators told me he was 2-0 in his MMA history with 2 KOs. Wait, I thought this guy was the greatest ever in the history of the sport?? How can he possibly be 2-0?? Shouldn't he be something like 40-0 if he's the supposed greatest the sport has ever seen??? Since this is broadcast on network TV, and not the Versus network, or ESPN 14 or some other no-name channel, this has to be the real deal, right? I must have heard wrong, no way he could be 2-0. </div><br /><div>Apparently his claim to fame is his YouTube videos of him street brawling. Whatever.</div><br /><div>So the fight finally gets started and I watch these 2 guys proceed to pummel each other for the first 5 minute round. There were about 4 times that I said to myself, "...this is over, no way this guy is going to stand up to the <em>greatest ever Kimbo Slice</em>..." But this guy, whoever he is, just kept fighting back.</div><br /><div>By the end of the 2nd round the 2 were completely winded. They were lying on the ground, Kimbo was taking about 60 seconds worth of forearms to the head. Neither of them could move. I kept waiting for something amazing to happen, but they both just stayed in the corner of the ring, Kimbo getting pounded on. The announcers were more exciting than the fight. Sure, they were beating the shit out of each other, but nothing was really happening. The great Kimbo was just lying there taking the beating. The other guy was just, well, I don't know what he was doing?? </div><br /><div>To end the misery, Kimbo put about 4 solid shots to the head of the other guy and the ref jumped in to end the fight. All the announcers kept saying was that "...this was sooooo controversial...." What?? This guy was about to get killed!!!! 2 more shots to the head, and he still would have no idea what his name was!! </div><br /><div>In conclusion, I'm not really impressed. I just don't have that much aggression in my body to watch 2 guys in a ring beating the hell out of each other. But I have also heard, from a couple of different sources, that this was a horrible display of what MMA is all about. Kimbo Slice is nothing more than a circus act. The other guys that were shown on the telecast were not the top notch guys in MMA. And I also read that CBS completely f'd up the show, it ran an hour too long, they were introducing people twice, and they were doing way too much talking and way too little fighting. </div><br /><div>I'm not saying that Kimbo isn't a complete bad-ass. He is! The guy is huge. Quite a fighter. But apparently in the realm of MMA he's got quite a bit of work to do. Maybe I'll tune in again, I guess it depends on how good or bad my day has been until that point?? Who knows?? </div><br /><div>TV is real bad these days. </div><br /><div>Oh, and one other thing I noticed about the fight last night. When Kimbo was getting acknowledged as the winner, there was some dude in his corner. This guy was fucking HUGE!!! <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207111989310185490" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SENgxAyC4BI/AAAAAAAAAN8/pspxI-DDDGA/s320/Manny+Ramirez+2.bmp" border="0" />I mean, HUGE!!!!!! I wish I could find a picture of him, this dude was enormous!! He was like the SNL skit about the All-Drug Olympics when Kevin Nealon pulls his arms off when he's trying to clean 1500 pounds! He was comic book huge!</div><div></div><br />In better news, Manny Ramirez hit his 500th homerun and is a .312 lifetime hitter. Impressive. He just hits. A lot of fun to watch!<br /><br /><div></div><div>The Indians just lost 2 of 3 to the Royals, they've scored 3 runs in the last 2 games. I don't even know what to say? I guess I should be happy I no longer live in Cleveland because I'm sure I would have watched every miserable AB this season and be even more upset than I already am about their dismal season. </div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-83360987929283710782008-05-30T23:08:00.004-05:002008-11-13T11:23:39.630-06:00Out of his MiseryLooks like Hafner is finally headed to the DL. Apparently he has had some shoulder problems that a cortizone shot wasn't able to heal. Since he's not the only weak link in the Indians miserable batting order, this is going to be a good thing for both him and the team. They're hitting a putrid .236 at the plate. That's good enough for worst in baseball. I can't imagine it's too far off of the major league record for worst ever.<br /><div><div>The real sad part of this is that the pitching is lights out. From CC in the 1 spot to Laffey in the 5. They've been solid. Especially in the last month. It is a shame that it's all being wasted because they can't get anybody on base. </div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SEDVmKo2kiI/AAAAAAAAANs/EvvheZ-6x-0/s1600-h/Lakers_vs_Celtics_U__002.png"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5206396020907741730" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SEDVmKo2kiI/AAAAAAAAANs/EvvheZ-6x-0/s320/Lakers_vs_Celtics_U__002.png" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I think the semifinals of the NBA thing are over. If the Celtics won tonight it's goign to be the Lakers and Celtics in the Finals. I'm sure I won't be tuning in. But this matchup reminds me of the wonderful days of <em>Lakers vs. Celtics</em> on the Sega Genesis. Back in the day when the NBA was watchable. That was such a great game. Such epic battles. Oh the memories. </div><br /><div>Back to the Indians. I think they've won 3 games in the last 3 weeks. That includes a 5-4 victory over the Royals tonight. And they're still within earshot of the AL Central leading Sox. Who I think are leading by default. The AL Central, which was supposed to be the best division in baseball, is probably the worst. The Indians and Tigers were supposed to be title contenders. The Tigers, and their $137,290,196 payroll, are 9 games under .500. That's sick. The Indians just suck. Their $78 million payroll is meager in comparison.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SEDVfao2khI/AAAAAAAAANk/809idazFT7w/s1600-h/Jason+Giambi.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5206395904943624722" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SEDVfao2khI/AAAAAAAAANk/809idazFT7w/s320/Jason+Giambi.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Speaking of payrolls, the Yanks are in the top spot, $207,108,489, and bringing up the rear is the Marlins, no surprise there, at just over $22.5 mil. I would also like to add the A-Rod and Giambi are both making more than the entire Marlins roster. Read that again. A-Rod is making $28 mil this year. That is over $4 mil more than the ENTIRE MARLINS ROSTER COMBINED!!!!!</div><br /><div>That makes me sick. </div><br /><div>I don't even want to get started on Giambi. All I'm going to say is that he's getting paid over $23 mil and he's not even hitting .250 with 27 RBIs. Hope he's enjoying himself.</div><br /><div>I guess it's tough to hit when you're off the juice. </div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-87070744836148424262008-05-26T20:19:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:39.827-06:00It sucks having no time...<div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDt1nao2kfI/AAAAAAAAANU/Ec8Inhls_Dw/s1600-h/Hafner.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204883114382758386" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDt1nao2kfI/AAAAAAAAANU/Ec8Inhls_Dw/s320/Hafner.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><div>I have been real busy lately. Working 2 jobs, getting paid like I'm earning unemployment. So is life. I guess this is becoming a weekly recap of the big stories instead of a daily. Whatever, I don't think there's anybody reading anyhow...<br /><br />First, the Indians haven't won since late May. I don't think they've scored over 2 runs in a game since early May, so I should consider them lucky. They've got a 3-3 tie against the Sox tonight, and I'm already considering it a loss since they can't seem to score more than 3 in a game. So I'm sure the pen, probably Borowski in his first appearance off the DL, will earn the loss. Should be exciting.<br /><br />No Hafner in the lineup again. No Garko. The Indians are just wasting good start after good start because they can't get any offense going. I blame Wedge for this. At this point, he has to resign to the fact they have to manufacture some runs. Tonght they have 3 solo homeruns. Victor hit a double. I don't think it's possible for him to hit the ball any further.<br /><br />Martinez still doesn't have a homerun.<br /><br />And Jim Thome is still getting booed every time he steps up to the plate. Hopefully he hits a homerun here...<br /><br />I was gone all day yesterday and when I got home I really wanted to see some highlights. I turned on SportsCenter. All they had were press conferences from the NBA game and hockey highlights. I find nothing more miserable than and interview with Kobe Bryant telling the media what he was thinking when he made that ju mper in the 2nd quarter to cut it to a 2 point deficit. Miserable.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDt17qo2kgI/AAAAAAAAANc/I7vU_Ee3t-o/s1600-h/Danica.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5204883462275109378" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDt17qo2kgI/AAAAAAAAANc/I7vU_Ee3t-o/s320/Danica.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Danica Patrick whined like a little bitch after she got hit on pit row in yesterday's Indianapolis 500. Again the little 5 year old had a hissy fit after something bad happened to her in a race. She tried to go after the guy, I don't even know who it is, that bumped her into the rail and put her out of her misery.<br /><br />For starters, I'm not a race fan. I do, however, find myself watching the 500 every year. I have done so since I was little. I was always a Bobby Rahal fan, because of course he is from Ohio.<br />It's a race where cars are going over 200 mph. Things are going to happen. Tony Kanaan got knocked out by one of his teammates. And yes, he was a little salty in the post-race interview. Who wouldn't?? But he didn't go stomping his feet like a 5 year old?? Little Bitch Danica got out of her car and tried to confront the guy that knocked into her.<br /><br />Now, what the fuck was she going to do when she got there??? Seriously??? Was she going to try and pick a fight?? She said in her post-race interview that "...it's a good thing I didn't make it down there..." What??? What was she possibly going to do?? Pick a fight with the guy and his pit crew?? What happens if she tried to throw down and this guy knocks her on her ass?? He's thrown out of Indy, fined, women's groups would be all over him, he would be chastised in the media... I couldn't imagine??<br /><br />I understand that she was bent out of shape when she got knocked out. I get it. I'd be pretty upset too. But the fact that she got out of the car, started stomping her feet like a 5 year old? Grow the fuck up. Learn how to check your emotions. You look like a fucking loser acting that way. I have a 6 year old daughter. She does not stomp her feet when I tell her that she can't have that plastic crap they sell at Toys R' Us if something doesn't go her way. If she does, she gets a very stern talking to and assures me it will never happen again.<br /><br />Was she seriously going to throw a punch when she got down there?? Grow up. Bad things happen. And in the words of Denis Leary, "Life sucks, wear a helmet."<br /><br />Oh wait, I'm watching the Indians offense, there is something on TV more miserable than Kobe talking to the media....<br /><br />Cabrera just Kd swinging at a ball way out of the zone with guys on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out, score tied at 3, in the bottom of the 8th. Hey Wedge, ever hear of a squeeze play?? Or is Asdrubal supposed to hit that 3 run homerun? Figure it out Wedge?????</div></div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-47756688202439467752008-05-18T18:58:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:40.102-06:00The LeBrons of Cleveland Blow It Again<div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDDGuwKT7BI/AAAAAAAAAM8/1-pZXpKSlMo/s1600-h/Mark+Price.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201876076117355538" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDDGuwKT7BI/AAAAAAAAAM8/1-pZXpKSlMo/s320/Mark+Price.bmp" border="0" /></a>The Cavs lost game 7 to the Celtics today. LeBron showed up, put up about 40 points, but threw up a miserable layup try with about 20 seconds to go to seal the deal for the Celtics. Their offensive strategy of everybody standing and hope LeBron has a good game is only going to take them so far. About this far. </div><div> </div><div>Whatever. It's just another Cleveland sports team getting close, but not nearly close enough. I'm actually pretty happy, now I don't have to suffer watching anymore NBA this year. Watching them stand, shoot and miss, and complain after every single fucking play no matter what happens is just painful to watch. I saw more complaining after foul calls in the last 3 games than I think I have seen in the last 10 years of college ball. It's just painful to watch. </div><div><br /></div><div>And what warrants an "Intentional Foul"??? I saw PJ Brown put his arms around guys more times than you'd see on North Halsted. How the league warrants that not being 2 shots and the ball is WAYYY beyond my brain capacity. All it does is slow the game down to a snail's pace and make it that much more unwatchable. </div><div><br /></div><div>Not to mention the Boston crowd screaming bullshit after every single call just got old. I'm pretty happy my 6 year old wasn't watching, let alone being at the game! I'm so tired of Boston and their fans.<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDDG4QKT7CI/AAAAAAAAANE/2MzecDucOyo/s1600-h/Hafner.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201876239326112802" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SDDG4QKT7CI/AAAAAAAAANE/2MzecDucOyo/s320/Hafner.JPG" border="0" /></a>Enough about that. More good news out of Cleveland. The Reds completed a sweep of the Indians today. Looks like Hafner is more of a mental case than we thought. He only got 2 plate appearances, an RBI base hit on Friday and a walk today. We really need him to get back into the groove. I see that he's raised the average up to .228, but he needs to hit at least .300 the rest of the way to help this team. The pitching has been solid, other than the 3 run jack Kobaishi gave up to Dunn in the 9th on Satruday. The starting pitching has been lights out. We have got to get some hitting!!<br /><br />And Bill Belichick is still denying any wrong doing in the whole spygate thing. I honestly can't wait for this whole thing to disappear. Apparently now he is saying that he stretched the rules to make it alright to videotape the opposite sideline looking to pick off signs. What a dirtbag. </div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-16594088314299560352008-05-16T08:04:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:40.620-06:00The Cavs, Indians Pitching, and The Unstoppable Lance Berkman<div><div>Well start off with the bad today. The Cavs. I'll be honest and say that I don't watch a whole lot of NBA ball. I just can't get into guys not trying and standing around and horrible jump shooting and the amount or arguing the players do with the refs. But, when the Cavs are in the playoffs I, being from Cleveland, am required to watch. </div>So I've watched most of the Cavs-Celtics series. Which sometimes means the game was on when I was reading, or the game was on when I was working, or making dinner... You get the picture, I just am not that interested.<br /><div></div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SC2TsAKT7AI/AAAAAAAAAM0/eM4tmWGqKH8/s1600-h/Ehlo.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5200975528849566722" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SC2TsAKT7AI/AAAAAAAAAM0/eM4tmWGqKH8/s320/Ehlo.bmp" border="0" /></a><br /><div>But when LeBron James missed as many shots, who am I kidding, I think he took 4 shots in the first 2 games, the rest of the 45 he missed were layups, it is just painful to watch. Not only that, but the offensive strategy of, "...Give LeBron the ball, and the rest of you get out of the way. If he feels like passing the ball, look ready, otherwise, just stand there!" Is just miserable. And now that Daniel Gibson, the only guy that can hit a jumper with some regularity, is out with a shoulder something. I think they're pretty much finished. </div><div></div><br /><div>There is no way the Cavs should have lost game 1. Same with game 5. This series should be over. But, when LeBron starts missing, the offense just falls apart, because there is no No. 2 option. I don't think there ever was a No. 2 option. </div><br /><div>If the Cavs had some sort of offensive strategy, like moving around and trying to find an open shot/lane, Lebron would be averaging his 30 points and probably 15+ assists. Oh yeah, I guess you need one of those guys to be able to hit a regular jumper too. </div><br /><div>Learn how to hold a lead guys...<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SC2TrgKT6_I/AAAAAAAAAMs/zkVzalpo-ng/s1600-h/Cliff+Lee.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5200975520259632114" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SC2TrgKT6_I/AAAAAAAAAMs/zkVzalpo-ng/s320/Cliff+Lee.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Anyhow, The Indians pitching is unreal! The starters went 44.1 innings without giving up a run! Cleveland completed a 6-1 homestand in which it allowed runs in just four of 64 innings! If the O can start to generate some runs, these guys could be dangerous. Cliff Lee has given up 4 earned runs in his 7 starts. He's 6-0 with an ERA of 0.67. CC has started to really show signs of life pitching real well in his last 4 starts, and Carmona is getting back into the shape he was in last year. If these 3 can rub off a little on Byrd and their 5th starter (Laffey, Sowers, Westbrook) or whoever else it may be, look out. Pitching wins championships...</div><br /><div>My one problem I have with Wedge is that he doesn't manufacture runs. I understand that waiting for the 3 run jack is a good way to score some quick runs, but when Hafner is having the problems that he's having, Victor is having trouble hitting for power, and Garko blows, where are you going to get that 3 run bomb at?? Sizemore should steal at least one base everytime he gets on. Maybe this could put some pressure on the pitchter, and get a ball up to one of these guys and they could get back on track. Maybe a hit and run sometime? Put Dellucci in motion with Hafner at the plate, take the decision out of his time at the plate and force him to make contact. </div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5200975515964664786" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SC2TrQKT69I/AAAAAAAAAMc/59bZ01cwMcI/s320/Berkman.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>Victor is, or maybe was, leading the league in hitting. As I was sitting at work the other day on my lunch break I was checking out the league leaders. And there's Victor, up at the top, I think he was hitting .344 at the time. But had only scored 9 runs. The next lowest total on that list had scored 17 runs, I don't remember who it was, but that's just horrible. All those times on base have been completely squandered by the guys hitting behind him, Hafner and Garko. Wedge has got to do something to get these 2 back on track. </div><div> </div><div>I did see that Hafner rose his average up to .222. So it looks like he's showing signs of breaking out, but he needs to get Berkman hot in order to get things really turned around.</div><br /><div>My solution for the Indians offense? Not that anybody is listening, but they need 1 of 2 things. Either a power hitting outfielder/3rd baseman to hit in the 4 spot after Victor, before Hafner. Or they need a leadoff 2nd baseman. So they could then have fast 2nd baseman/leadoff hitter, Francisco, Sizemore, Victor, Hafner, Garko, Peralta, Blake, (other outfielder insert here).</div><div></div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SC2TrgKT6-I/AAAAAAAAAMk/XEyNNy8_A38/s1600-h/Chipper.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5200975520259632098" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SC2TrgKT6-I/AAAAAAAAAMk/XEyNNy8_A38/s320/Chipper.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Which brings me to my final subject. Lance Berkman and Chipper Jones. These guys are hitting out of their mind right now!!! Chipper is hitting .416 right now and Berkman is hitting somthing like .546 over the last month or something!! </div><br /><div>I don't even know what to say. This is simply amazing. They just hit. If Chipper can stay healthy, which will be a feat in itself, he has an opportunity to really do soemthing special. And if Berkman can keep this up, he's going to do wonderful things on my fantasy team for the next 3 seasons! </div><br /><div>Good Stuff! </div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-25956395467347672652008-05-06T21:29:00.008-05:002008-11-13T11:23:40.930-06:00Tragedy at PETA<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SCEb2PQxrVI/AAAAAAAAALs/f1b1SmXt1KI/s1600-h/eight+Belles.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197466063586045266" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SCEb2PQxrVI/AAAAAAAAALs/f1b1SmXt1KI/s320/eight+Belles.jpg" border="0" /></a> If you haven't been watching the news, seen the paper, logged into the internet, or have been living under a log for the last couple of days, I'm sure you've heard the drama at the Kentucky Derby.<br /><br />First of all, I'm not into the horses, I will go to Arlington Park a couple times a summer, but I really don't know what horses I'm betting on or what I'm really doing. But it's fun, nice day out in the sun, hopefully the Tribune guy does a good job picking horses because those are the bets I make. And this weekend Eight Belles had be be put down because she broke both of her front ankles after Placing in the Derby. The poor thing was euthanized on the track because of the apparent pain she was in. Very, very sad. Poor animal was just doing it's thing and then, without warning, both ankles break.<br /><br />Anyhow, the idiots over at PETA have sent a letter to the head of horse racing, or somebody important telling them that they are at fault for this happening, the jockey should be suspended because it was also his fault, and the horses shouldn't be whipped and they should get rid of the whips completey, and all sorts of other BS that they've made up now that they have a legit platform to stand on because of this poor horse.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SCEcGfQxrWI/AAAAAAAAAL0/Oi-5cfczpOs/s1600-h/CIMG0314.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197466342758919522" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SCEcGfQxrWI/AAAAAAAAAL0/Oi-5cfczpOs/s320/CIMG0314.JPG" border="0" /></a>I don't know how anybody can take these people seriously. Believe me, I'm as much for animal rights as the next person. I'm the proud owner of a bad ass cat named Manny. And I'd be devastated if anything were to happen to him. But getting rid of the whips? Blaming the poor jockey for doing his job? Trying to play the blame game and destroying the lives of everybody involved for a freak occurrence? I don't understand the affection some people have with fur coats. I think they're very tacky and ridiculous expensive for an ugly coat. I didn't agree with the way the cougar was killed by police in my neighborhood a couple of weeks ago.<br /><br />You know what, it happened, it's a horrible thing. I can honestly say that I have no idea who won the race, who showed, or any other horse in the field. But I know for certain what happened after the race and who it happened to.<br /><br />These people at PETA are just ridiculous. Like I said, I really feel bad for this horse and the people that trained/owned/rode her. But what they're trying to do should just be laughed at. Steak is real good. I survive on chicken. Breakfast sausage is outstanding. Listening to these PETA people makes me want to get sick, and then eat more sausage and another steak.<br /><br />In other news. The Cavs are tied with the Celts with a minute to go in game 1. LeBron has 2 field goals and 10 turnovers. He has also missed about 25 layups. There is no possible way the Cavs should lose this game. Way to step up LeBron. 2-17 I was just informed. So I guess he didn't miss 25 layups, it just felt like it.<br /><br />The Indians beat the Yanks tonight. Interesting lineup. Andy Marte, Ben Francisco, Jamey Carrol, Kelly Shoppach all in the starting lineup. Delucci had a pinch hit 3 run jack to put the Indians up 2 runs. Carmona pitched 5 solid innings and Betancourt got the save. I can't believe that Borowski is going to be put back in the closers role when he gets healthy.<br /><br />Makes me want to go out and buy a fur coat.RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-8083883896523677872008-05-04T21:20:00.009-05:002008-11-13T11:23:41.225-06:00Four God Damn Hits?? The Cy Young thing was meant to be a joke. But the four hits sadly is not. No runs either. This is just sad... I apparently can't cut and paste the Indians side of the box score but I can sum it up pretty easily.</div><br /><div></div><div>THE INDIANS ARE FUCKING HORRIBLE</div><br /><div>Excuse the language, but they are. They're fucking horrible! They can't hit. They can't field. They can't pitch. And that's pretty much all you do in baseball. Soooo.</div><br /><div></div><div>Looks like Manager Wedge has decided to try and shake things up by changing the lineup a bit by placing Gutierrez in the 2 spot, followed by Dellucci. Yes, you read that right. David f'n Dellucci is now hitting in the 3 spot for a major league team. Hafner has been dropped to the 6 spot, Garko to the 7th. Hafner has really responded well by going 2 for his last 10 including 2 straight games without a hit. </div><br /><div>Earlier this season I was contemplating getting the MLB package so I could watch the Indians every night. Am I glad I opted to not spend the money.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SB51qPQxrTI/AAAAAAAAALc/E1x6Q8l0tNk/s1600-h/Royals+2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5196720388543982898" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SB51qPQxrTI/AAAAAAAAALc/E1x6Q8l0tNk/s320/Royals+2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />I don't know what they can do? They <em>should</em> have good pitching. They <em>should</em> have good hitting. Victor is leading the league in hitting right now, but when you hit singles with nobody on base, what's the point? He's got 6 extra base hits and no homers. Awesome! </div><br /><div>CC is starting to get things figured out. But when Gutierrez can't catch a fly ball and the O only scores 2 runs a game, not many pitchers are going to be good. He's now 1-5. Maybe you should have signed that deal in the off-season, eh CC?? </div><br /><div>A couple of weeks ago, I thought they needed another bat in the outfield to hit behind Victor, in front of Garko. Now, the only thing another outfielder is going to do for them is suck up payroll. </div><div></div><div> </div><div>Asdrubal Cabrera?? Seriously? Is this really the best you can do?</div><br /><div></div><div>These guys are struggling to hit .200!</div><br /><div></div><div>Alright, I suppose I should have something good to say. Cliff Lee is having a good season. And the future on the mound should look bright with Carmona, Laffey, who pitched real well today, and Sowers. </div><br /><div></div><div>Enough flowers and puppies. As I look at this lineup I see their 5-9 guys. Peralta, Hafner, Garko, Blake, and Cabrera. They're hitting .216, .209, .242, .202, .191. Not going to win very many baseball games with a lineup like that. </div><br /><div>Makes me sick. You know what else makes me sick? Roger Clemens. Now it has come out that he was sticking John Daly's ex-wife on the side too. I'm sure he's sitting in a lawyers' office denying that one too. </div><br /><div>I hope everybody watched last weeks' episode of The Real World. It was simply amazing. </div><br /><div>I also read that Wedge is planning on putting Borowski back into the closer's role when he gets healthy. I guess it doesn't really matter if you can't score any runs, huh???</div></div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-47008450226300007402008-04-29T22:38:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:41.561-06:00Mindy McCready???? What's Next???<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBfvvfQxrQI/AAAAAAAAALE/gFKrWiy8pdA/s1600-h/Clemens+before+congress.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194884294319910146" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBfvvfQxrQI/AAAAAAAAALE/gFKrWiy8pdA/s320/Clemens+before+congress.jpg" border="0" /></a>So good ole' Roger Clemens is back again lying about anything and everything he possibly can. Now, it's an affair with ex-country star Mindy McCready. What can he possibly lie about next?? First the juice, then being at a Jose Canseco party, then the entire congressional hearing happened, and now he's lying about having a 10 year affair?<br /><div></div><div>And you know you can absolutely not make this stuff up. I always compare things like this to Apollo 13. Great movie. Very emotional. Do they make it back? Do they skip off the earth's atmosphere and get lost in space forever? The only way this is a good movie is the fact that it's true. If it was made up in some struggling writers' mind, it would be a horribly unbelievable tale in which they all make it back safe in the end. </div><br /><div>This can't possibly be made up. Everybody who was mentioned in the Mitchell Report has basically come clean. They've all admitted that "...yes, I did in fact, get caught cheating..." on some level or another. Throwing this on top of Clemens' denial, throwing his wife under the bus, and now finding out that he's been cheating on her for at least a decade, and again lying about it, is simply amazing.<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBfv2_QxrRI/AAAAAAAAALM/ogyPRvmhg8o/s1600-h/Mindy+McCready.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194884423168929042" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBfv2_QxrRI/AAAAAAAAALM/ogyPRvmhg8o/s320/Mindy+McCready.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />And another reason why this story has to be true? Mindy Freaking McCready is telling the NY press that, "...Yes, I did in fact have an affair with Roger for the better part of 10 years..." So, I'm thinking, just like everybody else, who has some sort of brain capacity, that he's guilty as guilty gets. Not only in this, but everything else he's accused of. At this point, people could start making shit up about him and everybody is going to believe it. </div><br /><div>And the funny part, not really, funny ha-ha, but more, funny sad, is that McCready was apparently addicted to Oxycontin, arrested, put on probation, found guilty of violating her probation, and found not guilty of a drunk driving arrest. Nice work Roger, I'm going to throw out there that you probably ruined this girls' life in the process too. Good people. And at this point if he comes out and says that he didn't get her the Oxy, who would believe him? Not me.</div><br /><div>I wonder how that congresswoman feels now that asked him what uniform he's going to wear into the Hall Of Fame? Idiots... </div><br /><div>And on a similar note, I caught an episode of A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila tonight. First of all, the people that are trying to win are just out of their mind. Right up there with the girls that are on the Bret Michaels show, probably worse. Secondly, why do these people really want to be with this Tila Tequila. Her only claim to fame is this horrible MTV show and some myspace/YouTube videos. Just doesn't make sense in my head?? And lastly, one of the "contestants" is a high school football coach. He's on the show acting like a complete, drunken, jackass. I have a feeling that the school he works at is going to have a few words for him after this show is over. Probably along with his coaching career. </div><br /><div>Anyhow, that's about it for tonight. HBO is finally showing some reruns of The Soprano's. This makes me forget all about Tila. </div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-67584555902372063402008-04-28T14:12:00.007-05:002008-11-13T11:23:41.828-06:00Another Rainy Chicago Day<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBYlQPQxrNI/AAAAAAAAAKs/pFZ0Hv-_pn0/s1600-h/corey+williams.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194380181123476690" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBYlQPQxrNI/AAAAAAAAAKs/pFZ0Hv-_pn0/s320/corey+williams.bmp" border="0" /></a> I've missed some things over the last week.<br /><br /><div>The Browns had a pretty uneventful draft since they traded all of their picks. Which is fine with me. I think Shawn Rogers and Cory Williams are better than anything else they were going to get out of the draft. But apparently the MLB that they got from UNLV is pretty solid. So good for them. Not sure why they got another TE in the 5th round, but I've decided it's not a good thing to second guess Phil Savage these days, so I will not. </div><div></div><br /><div>As for the rest of the draft, I just don't get it. I watch a solid share of college football and I could not tell you the positions or schools of half of the first round. I just don't get it. Especially in a year that the Browns first pick is in the 4th round, I really don't care. Not to mention the Day 2 coverage. I think it's the worst TV on TV. and this is a bad time for TV. I actually having the threat of having Mel Kiper talking really makes the draft that much more unappealing. </div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBYlfPQxrPI/AAAAAAAAAK8/H3jWikMh70M/s1600-h/ShaunRogers.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194380438821514482" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SBYlfPQxrPI/AAAAAAAAAK8/H3jWikMh70M/s320/ShaunRogers.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>The Indians are starting to play some good baseball. CC figured out that he does actually have to show up for the games in order to pitch. So this is good. They're presently in 2nd place, 2.5 behind the Sox for the division lead.</div><br /><div>I would like it to be known that the D-Rays are leadin the AL East. Wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if they made the playoffs and kept both the Yanks and Red Sox out?? I'm not going to hold my breath, but that would be a good day! </div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-5398597359662165822008-04-19T13:51:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:41.946-06:00Saturday Afternoon Roundup<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SApGT78HEtI/AAAAAAAAAKU/u31QYI11xoc/s1600-h/CC.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5191038828819190482" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SApGT78HEtI/AAAAAAAAAKU/u31QYI11xoc/s320/CC.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon and I get to sit around the house and clean. How exciting, I know. But I'm golfing for the first time this season tomorrow. And I'm really looking forward to it. So I don't feel so bad about not really getting out of the house today.<br /></div><div>The NBA playoffs started today. The Cavs and the Wizards are on now. Whatever.</div><br /><div>The Indians still suck. Cliff Lee is off to a real solid start, so is Westbrook. And if I'm not mistaken, those were the 2 question marks going into the season. Whevever CC and Fausto would like to start pitching, that would be great. But you know, no rush. It's not as though the AL Central is the best league in baseball or anything. So, whenever you guys are ready. After all, combined you did win almost 40 games last year. So I hope you didn't work too hard over the winter to get ready for the season. </div><br /><div></div><div>Have you seen the first episode of The Real World Hollywood??? I am really not sure if I'm going to be able to watch this whole season. The people that they have for the show is just amazing. The guys are something else. A roided up Johnny Bravo. A guy that's a bigger douchebag than Adam from Paris, he's already told 2 of the girls that he's all into them. They've been there 2 days. A guy who is just, "that guy that fills the last spot". And a guy that was chosen off the internet that appears, from the first hour of the show, to be the biggest ass MTV has ever had on any of their shows. And that's really saying something. This guy makes Puck look like a pretty cool dude. Think of all the Sweet 16s, True Lifes, Made, the dating shows. This guy takes the cake. And the girls. There's the southern belle that doesn't know her left foot from her right. The hot girl that seems pretty well rounded. And the stripper that has serious anger issues and a warrant out for her arrest. Yes, you read that right. Stripper. Arrest warrant. Anger issues. Should be an amazing season! </div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-41091839553376912092008-04-16T17:49:00.006-05:002008-11-13T11:23:42.259-06:00Browns Get A MNF Date!<div><div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAaLLCCC6tI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/A7csCy0aWsc/s1600-h/Browns+Stadium.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189988642231347922" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAaLLCCC6tI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/A7csCy0aWsc/s320/Browns+Stadium.jpg" border="0" /></a> They're getting 3 MNF games to be exact! This is 3 more than they have had since the Browns came back to Cleveland in 1999. This is great news for a franchise on the upswing!<br /><br /><div>Although they didn't make the playoffs last season, because they should have won when they had the chance, and Indianapolis decided to send it in against the Titans, but their future is looking real bright. Derek Anderson developed into an excellent Quarterback. Braylon Edwards is emerging as one of the top 5 wideouts in the league. And this includes getting his ego under wraps. Winslow is working to become the TE he was supposed to be before he tried out for the motorcycle circus. The O-Line came together in a big way last season. </div><br /><div>The only question mark is going to be the defense. If they come together this season like the Offense did last year. They can be a very dangerous team! They are going to be a very exciting team to watch!<br /><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAaLfSCC6vI/AAAAAAAAAKM/JeHWJ4uigME/s1600-h/MNF+logo.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189988990123698930" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAaLfSCC6vI/AAAAAAAAAKM/JeHWJ4uigME/s320/MNF+logo.bmp" border="0" /></a><br />So, they've got their limit 5 nationally televised games this season. They've got week 2 at Cleveland Browns Stadium on Sunday night against the Steelers. Week 6 Monday night against the defending Champion Giants, again at home. A Thursday night meeting with Denver in week 10, in Cleveland. Then they travel to Buffalo for a week 11 meeting on Monday night. And their last nationally televised game will be in Philly for a Monday night matchup in week 15.</div><br /><div>This is huge news for this organization. Look at where they were last season at this time. All of the question marks?? Is Braylon going to get his head screwed on straight? Can Winslow play with his surgically repaired knee? What's going to happen to the O-Line?? Who's going to play QB? Are we going to be able to put a Defense on the field. I believe my prediction for the Browns last August was 4 victories. </div><br /><div>So the fact that the NFL is putting quite a bit of stock in the Browns is saying alot for what Phil Savage and Romeo Crennel have done over the past 2 years. Very exciting outlook on the shores of Lake Erie!!</div></div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-84561546331072911472008-04-16T09:05:00.004-05:002008-11-13T11:23:42.531-06:00Closing Time????<div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAYMkyCC6rI/AAAAAAAAAJs/6bURBX_-EYo/s1600-h/Hafner.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189849446636251826" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAYMkyCC6rI/AAAAAAAAAJs/6bURBX_-EYo/s320/Hafner.JPG" border="0" /></a> We've been able to figure out a couple of things about the Indians in this early season.<br /><br /><div></div><div>1. CC Sabathia thought that since he won the Cy Young last season, batters were going to just lie down at the plate and "fear the Cy Young Winner." Well, this certainly hasn't happened, not even close. Actually, he's having more problems finding the plate than anything else. So far he's 0-2, his only no-decision came when he gave up 7 runs to the White Sox opening day when the Indians were up 7-0. ERA is up to 11.57. His cupcake intake must be through the roof too. </div><br /><div>2. Fausto Carmona, Cy Young contended in 07, walked 8 batters in 3.1 innings the other night. The only performance that was worse in the history of the Indians was when Clarence Wright walked 8 in 2.2 innings, in '03. If you don't remember Clarence Wright there's probably a good reason for that, it was 1903 when he walked 8!!! Fausto almost broke a 105 year old record!!!! </div><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAYM3yCC6sI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/jNcKidHzoMo/s1600-h/Grady+Sizemore.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189849773053766338" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/SAYM3yCC6sI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/jNcKidHzoMo/s320/Grady+Sizemore.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>3. Borowski is finally on the DL. Hopefully he'll not earn his closer job back when he gets healthy. It's just painful watching this guy pitch. Doesn't matter if they're up 1 run, 3 runs, 6 runs... He always seems to make things interesting. Best case was for him to get hurt, the Indians are forced into putting somebody else in that role and Borowski can figure out his problems in therapy.</div><br /><div>4. Hafner still can't see the ball. He's got 14 Ks and 14 hits. He has to be making more contact than this. In the couple of games that I've seen, he's not swinging at strikes. He's swinging at 2-0 curveballs down in the zone. He's swinging at a fastball out of the zone on 3-1 and then watches a fastball on the inside part of the plate go by for strike 3. This just isn't the Travis Hafner of 2 years ago. He was feared, he is not now. Looks to me like he's putting too much pressure on himself, trying to hit the bases empty grand slam everytime he's at the plate. He's guessing too much. He needs to get back to whta he did in the past. See the ball, hit the ball. Get back to the basics. </div><br /><div>5. We need Victor in the lineup. Peralta just isn't getting the job done hitting behind Hafner. </div><br /><div>6. We need some help in the outfield. I think Gutierrez will be good, eventually, but they need another big bat out there. I don't think Delucci and Michaels are going to get the job done. Gutierrez is good hitting in the 9 spot, but they need another bat for the middle of the lineup.</div><br /><div>7.Garko is hitting the ball pretty hard. This is very important!</div><br /><div>8. Grady Sizemore is the best defensive CF in baseball. </div><br /><div>9. The bullpen is horrible. Can't blame Borowski for the loss last night. 2 nights in a row the bullpen blew wins against the Red Sox. And a quick look at the standings puts the Indians at 5-9. For a team many picked to go to the Series, this is not a good start. </div><br /><div>The season is still young, plenty of time to turn things around. Maybe you can blame the cold weather?? Who knows, excuses are not what they need right now. Good baseball is what they need right now.</div></div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-36729323839197542842008-04-09T19:07:00.005-05:002008-11-13T11:23:42.687-06:00Yeah, I've been pretty lazy<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/R_1dl6swyEI/AAAAAAAAAJk/A-93ELKYIcM/s1600-h/World+B+Free.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5187405251794225218" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/R_1dl6swyEI/AAAAAAAAAJk/A-93ELKYIcM/s320/World+B+Free.bmp" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Well, maybe not lazy, I have been ridiculous busy. I'm trying to balance 2 jobs and dealing with health insurance problems. I think I've spent more time in the last month trying to get my health insurance issues resolved than actually finding a new job. Absolutely miserable.</div><div> </div><div></div><div>World B. Free was one of the great Cleveland Cavs. One of my earliest memories was watching him at the old Richfield Coliseum. He was coming down the court on a fast break, no defense in front of him. He pulled up at the 3 point line and drained the 3. The Coliseum went nuts.</div><div></div><br /><div>But, I've missed quite a few things. One of those things I haven't missed it a Detroit Tigers win. I guess a $140 million payroll gets you 0-7. I'm sure they're going to get things turned around, they're too good to keep losing, but that's just horrible. </div><br /><div></div><div>The NCAA season ended with a bang. Actually a 3 pointed that's going to go down in history as one of the biggest clutch shots ever. What a great final game, as long as you weren't a Memphis fan. Back and forth, lots of athleticism, great basketball, just a great game. Considering the Saturday night games, the Championship sure made up for it. </div><br /><div></div><div>One Shining Moment was great! As usual.</div><br /><div>UNC being down 40-12 or whatever it was. Coming back and getting it down to 4 points, and then losing by 20. What an emotional roller coaster for Carolina fans?? </div><br /><div></div><div>My fantasy baseball team had possibly the worst week in the 9 year history of the Big 10 Units. I had 6 starts and between them they could not even muster up 25 combined points. </div><br /><div></div><div>CC Sabathia sure doesnt' look like a Cy Young winner? He's been terrible early this season. Along with pretty much everybody else on the Indians. Hafner has more Ks than hits. Peralta is terrible. Victor is banged up. The Outfield is in shambles. Delucci is terrible. Michaels is worse. Carmona has been the lone bright spot. And I guess Westbrook put together a real nice start last night. They're 4-5. With the team they have, there is no way they should be 4-5. And Borowski is awful. They're going to need to find a new solution for the back end of the pen. </div><br /><div>And a final note, I had to fax 5 pages to my new employer. I went to FedEx Kinko's. The total bill was $9.67. Yes, that's right, $9.67 for faxing 5 pages. 5 fucking pages, almost $10. I will never set foot in a FedEx Kinko's again. </div>RKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07070854380454793887noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7822857250529921278.post-12605182641924922332008-04-03T09:01:00.006-05:002008-11-13T11:23:42.969-06:00Opening Week!<div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/R_Tl8s6JizI/AAAAAAAAAJU/l_NHyB9j3Nc/s1600-h/Asdrubal.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5185021902020250418" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/R_Tl8s6JizI/AAAAAAAAAJU/l_NHyB9j3Nc/s320/Asdrubal.jpg" border="0" /></a> I've been ridiculously busy these last couple of days. I haven't had much time for the blog. And apparently <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Pikus</span> and Reynolds haven't either. No real surprise there.<br /><br /><div></div><div>The Indians have opened the season 2-0 against the garbage of the AL Central. CC sure didn't look like a Cy Young winner on Monday, but <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Fausto</span> sure did. 7 innings, 1 run. Solid outing for a very cold night in Cleveland. Game 3 of the series is this afternoon, hopefully the Tribe can get a nice sweep of the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Sox</span> to start the season. Westbrook is on the mound for the Indians. </div><br /><div>Victor pulled a hammy in opening day. I really think we're going to need him to play more 1st base this year. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Shoppach</span> is solid behind the plate but we're going to need him to hit. Taking <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Garko</span> out of the lineup to let Victor play first is going to be tough to replace. </div><div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5185022090998811458" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4tNUcf3uVjs/R_TmHs6Ji0I/AAAAAAAAAJc/UznYKCWmDZM/s320/Grady.jpg" border="0" />The whole lineup is hitting right now. I think that's more of a function of the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">BP</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">Buherle</span> threw to the Indians yesterday than anything else. It's a little deceiving to see that they're nearly hitting .400 as a team so far... But <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">Sizemore</span> and Cabrera each had 3 hits yesterday and <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">Hafner</span> added 2. This is real good for <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">Hafner</span> after the dismal October he had last season.<br /><br /><div></div><div>And one last Indians comment. Sometimes I just hate Cleveland fans. Why do they insist on booing Jim <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">Thome</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">every time</span> he comes up to the plate.
